Crypto Trading Commissions

Written by Theo T.

How do the crypto trading commissions work?

Our crypto trading commissions are percentage-based and vary depending on the order type: The fees are volume-based, meaning they depend on the traded volume rather than profit or loss. Larger positions result in higher fees as they scale proportionally with the position size and current price.

  • Taker Fee: 0.035% (for Market Orders in Volumetrica)

  • Maker Fee: 0.016% (for Limit Orders in Volumetrica)

Half-Turn and Round-Turn

For BTC trades, a fee of 0.06% is charged per Half-Turn on MT5 platform. A Half-Turn refers to either opening or closing a position. The total cost of a Round-Turn (opening and closing) is derived from two Half-Turns.

Example: Trading fees for a trade in Volumetrica

Assume the price of BTC is 100,000 USDT:

Buying 1 BTC with a Market Order (Taker)

Fee: 0.035% of 100,000 USDT = 35 USDT

Selling 1 BTC with a Limit Order (Maker)

Fee: 0.016% of 100,000 USDT = 16 USDT

Total trading commissions

51 USDT

Platform-Specific Fees

The fees can vary depending on the platform and traded asset:

  • On the MT5 platform (GBE Brokers), the fees for crypto CFDs are 0.12%.

  • On the Volumetrica platform (IQC Trader), the fees for crypto trades are lower.

Asset-Specific Fee Differences

Fees also depend on the asset value. For example, there are differences between 1 Lot BTC and 1 Lot Solana. Smaller lot sizes (e.g., 0.1 Lot) proportionally reduce the fees.

Fee Optimization Strategies

To minimize fees, traders can use the following strategies:

  1. Platform Choice: Switch to platforms with lower fees, such as Volumetrica.

  2. Order Type: Use Limit Orders to benefit from lower Maker fees.

  3. Commissions Voucher: Utilize a starting credit of up to $50 to cover trading fees. After reaching the $50 limit, fees are deducted as usual.

Crypto vs. Futures Fee Comparison

Crypto spot/CFD trading generally incurs higher percentage fees compared to standardized futures contracts. This results in higher effective costs per trade for cryptocurrencies compared to futures.
